This dataset compiles 425 geolocated observations of urban flooding in Ho Chi Minh City, recorded between 2002 and 2026 from 53 sources (mainly Vietnamese newspapers, along with a few technical reports).
Each observation documents the date, location (name, type, ward/commune, and the current administrative unit following the 2025 administrative reform), water height (minimum/maximum in cm and depth class), cause (rain, high tide, or combined), impact type, source, spatial precision, and geocoding method.
The dataset also includes complementary layers:
- administrative boundaries before/after the 2025 reform
- population density by district (2019)
- flood recurrence by street
- rivers, canals and water bodies
- verified industrial zones
This work was carried out as part of a Master's (M2) internship (IGE, April–August 2026) within LMI CARE, under the supervision of Sébastien Hardy (IRD). The Master's thesis was defended on 10 September 2026.
