Description
| This dataset contains concentration data for long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)) and 11 metallic elements in three species of small pelagic fish from South Africa (Engraulis encrasicolus, Sardinops sagax, Etrumeus whiteheadii).
The fish analysed for metallic elements (n = 66) were collected in November/December 2020. The fish analysed for fatty acids (n = 254) were collected in November/December 2020 and June/July 2021. Complete fatty acid profiles (% of total fatty acids) for these fish are available in a companion dataset (https://doi.org/10.23708/OJJNGM).
These samples were collected to study the nutritional and toxicological composition of small pelagic fish in South Africa, as part of the OMEGA project: https://isblue.fr/la-recherche/projets-de-recherche/projet-emblematique-omega/ (2025-09-25) |
