IRD's Ob7 coordinates all stages from data collection to reporting on French tropical tuna fishing for several end users in government and research.


As part of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries, OB7 has implemented an information system for data management and analysis, as well as scientific collaborations in the North and South for sharing data analysis tools and analysis outputs, through which OB7 studies:

  • the dynamics of large pelagic fisheries and their impact on targeted resources (tuna) or accidentally caught species (marlins, sharks, sea turtles, etc.)
  • the biodiversity of pelagic ecosystems
  • the functioning of large pelagic communities and their status in contexts of over-exploitation and climate change.
