Malaria control : Improving access to pREventive, diAgnostical and CuraTive arsenal among rural and vulnerable communities (REACT2 project)

The fight against malaria faces now the challenge of the emergence and expansion of the resistance to both curative (treatment) and preventive (vector control) tools. A previous project (named REACT1) highlighted limited access to the whole arsenal including new tools in development among rural and vulnerable communities. In the REACT2 project, we then hypothesized that community health workers supervised by an itinerant nurse could improve access to prevention, diagnostic and treatment against malaria. To test this hypothesis we ran a cluster randomized trial in the same areas in rural Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast and compare malaria burden between villages with and without this public health intervention.
