Unité Mixte Internationale TransVIHMI

L’UMI 233 étudie principalement les spécificités de l’infection par le VIH au Sud et ses conséquences pour les populations. L’impact du VIH sur les autres endémies infectieuses tropicales fait que le champ des recherches aborde aussi la problématique des co-infections (hépatites, tuberculose) et d’autres maladies tropicales négligées telles que les filarioses et plus récemment l'infection par le virus Ebola. Autour de cette unité thématique, et cela depuis sa création il y a près de 20 ans, l’UMI 233 mène des travaux de recherches transversales pluridisciplinaires associant virologie, parasitologie, clinique, épidémiologie, santé publique et sciences sociales. Si le VIH et les Maladies Associées restent le thème principal de l'unité, l'unité mène des travaux sur les Maladies Tropicales Négligées comme la filariose, l'infection par le virus Ebola et tout récemment l’infection par le virus SARS-CoV-2 .
